Community Service at TCA: Living Out Our Faith Through Action
At Tipton Christian Academy, community service is more than a requirement—it is a core expression of our mission to empower service‑oriented leaders. When students engage in service projects, they not only make a meaningful impact on others, but also gain valuable experiences that build character, humility, and gratitude. We encourage our students and families to view service not simply as a duty, but as a fundamental part of the Christian life.
Scripture calls us to this mindset in 1 John 3:18–19:
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence.” (NIV)
A School‑Wide Culture of Giving Back
Service at TCA extends far beyond the High School requirement. Across every grade level, we intentionally cultivate a culture of generosity, compassion, and community impact.
- Preschool & Lower School Chapel Offerings support local ministries such as Confidential Care Mobile Ministry, First United Methodist Church Coat Closet, and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
- St. Jude Trike‑A‑Thon — Over 11 years, TCA students have raised $156,656.70, placing us among the top 10 fundraising schools for St. Jude.
- Go Lucy Go Sponsor — Supporting families facing medical crises.
- See What You “CAN” Give — A canned food drive benefiting the local food pantry, with over 2,500 cans collected in February 2023 during Homecoming Week’s philanthropic class competition.
Through these efforts, our students learn what it means to love others well, serve with joy, and reflect Christ in their actions.
At TCA, we are grateful to see our students grow as compassionate leaders—serving their school, their community, and the world for the glory of God.
High School Service Requirements
To help students grow in servant leadership, all High School students are required to complete at least 10 hours of community service each year, with a minimum of 40 hours expected by graduation. Hours may be earned through any volunteer project for which the student receives no payment, credit, or compensation, including service completed through TCA’s athletic program.
Families may CLICK HERE to download the service hour form. Completed forms should be submitted to the Academic Advisor at the end of each semester and will be added to the student’s file.
Please note: Students are responsible for tracking their hours and obtaining all required signatures.
