HOSA at TCA
TCA’s HOSA program began with the vision of Sloane Sullivan (Class of 2023), whose passion for the medical field inspired the creation of a class that would give students a head start on future healthcare careers. What started as a student‑driven initiative has grown into one of TCA’s most successful and impactful programs.
Each year, TCA HOSA students participate in the HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Chattanooga, TN, competing in a wide range of medical‑related events both individually and in teams. Throughout the school year, students prepare diligently for their competitions, gaining valuable knowledge, skills, and confidence.
TCA is proud to celebrate outstanding achievements, including First and Second Place finishes in Medical Reading by Anna Grace Harchfield (Class of 2025), who also advanced to the HOSA International Leadership Conference. The program has placed among the top competitors in the state every year except one since joining SLC.
Under the leadership of Mrs. Rebekah McFarland, a licensed athletic trainer, and Ms. Emily Gray, a registered nurse, the program continues to thrive. Mrs. McFarland has earned statewide recognition, including Advisor of the Year, placed fourth in the state in Biomedical Debate, and successfully hosted two campus blood drives—expanding real‑world service opportunities for students. Both advisors are deeply appreciated for their dedication, expertise, and unwavering support of every HOSA student.
HOSA at TCA strives to help students explore the many career paths within the healthcare field while empowering them to grow as leaders and professionals.
